This stone is commonly mistaken for fossils, but are actually manganese oxide that have crystallized in rock formed thousands to millions of years ago • You may recognize this pattern from snowflakes, window frost, or even rivers and our nerve cells- all described with the fractal pattern termed dendrite, Greek for “tree”. It’s no wonder why it’s adopted this name, as it so clearly resembles the pattern of tree roots and branches.
